So flood mapping is the tool that we use to understand where we might have a flood risk for our community.
Flyover of a flooded street with road closed signs showing half submerged in the floodwaters.
And that helps us to understand where we should and shouldn't put our new development.

So it's really important that we understand the levels of risk and we use the flood mapping to understand that.
The new mapping identifies four areas of flood risk.
Flood Risk Level. High. Moderate. Low. Very Low.

It just gives everybody an opportunity to become aware to begin with, aware of what their risk is and just prepare.
Man in SES uniform hands Jane Gibson an orange High-vis vest.
This will obviously identify future risks for us, with climate change happening, we must take that into account
Darren Power and a worker, dressed in yellow High-vis, look at a printout of the flood maps, before looking up and pointing out into the distance.
And as a way of protecting residents so they can prepare themselves to take action if there is a flood risk.
Once it's been approved, then we'll make it available to the residents for consultation.
