Description:

An opening screen appears with the Logan City logo in the top right corner, a large blue banner projects from left-hand side with following word within it, “Logan Planning Scheme 2015 Version 8”. The background of the opening screen is a city skyline and in the centre is a large book titled, “Logan Planning Scheme 2015”.

Narrator:

The Logan planning scheme is the blueprint for development in our city.

Description:

A map of the City of Logan forms the background. Sitting on the map is the same large book with the words “Logan Planning Scheme 2015 Version 8.0” written on it. Several small ribbons appear to move into this book, each ribbon has the word “Amendment” written on it.

Narrator:

We’ve recently made some improvements to keep up with how things change and what the community wants.

Description:

An industrial scene is displayed with a new building being dropped in next to an existing industry building. The new building looks like a school or a motel and a red cross sits above this image suggesting that it does not belong. This building is replaced with another industrial building. The new industrial building then increases in height.

Narrator:

To help Berrinba’s industrial area continue to flourish, we’ve limited the area to industrial developments and increased building heights to allow for new warehousing technology.

Description:

A main street made up of several shops and offices appears. A new commercial building appears next to these buildings.  After a moment this new building moves along the road, it moves past houses and is finally placed next to a bus stop.

Narrator:

We’ve improved the criteria for new centres in our growth areas so that they’re built near transport and are far enough away from other centres.

Description:

Another industrial scene appears with a small building appearing next to an existing industrial building. The small building represents a crematorium. After a moment the crematorium moves further away from the industrial building and a green tick appears above the crematorium.

Narrator:

We’ve ensured that crematoriums are only built in industrial areas and introduced a buffer distance to other buildings.

Description:

A main street busy with people in restaurants and cafes is displayed. In the middle of the scene a vacant shop is shown being converted to a craft brewery with customers enjoying a drink.

Narrator:

We’ve allowed craft breweries to set up in our centres, bringing them closer to restaurants and bars.

Description:

A small, old style cottage house is shown. A large magnifying glass appears and roams over the house. On the right-hand side of the house is a document with the heading of ‘Register’ written on it.

Narrator:

We’ve added more information to our local heritage register to help people learn more about the history of our city.

Description:

An overhead view of two large residential properties is displayed initially. There are roads between and around the properties with cars travelling on them. After a moment, additional houses and new boundaries appear on the two original properties.
A map of part of Logan replaces the previous images. Many suburbs of Logan are visible as well as various roads. The map has many different colours representing the different zones of the planning scheme. This display is a view from one of Council’s online planning tools. The display zooms in, reducing the area displayed, until individual properties are visible.

Narrator:

We’ve updated our planning maps to include new properties that have been created or changed since the planning scheme started.

This makes it easier to find your property using our online planning tools.

Description:

A map of Logan appears with a big question mark in the middle of it. The question mark turns into the Logan City Council website (Logan.qld.gov.au).

Narrator:

To find out more about the changes in version 8 of the Logan Planning Scheme visit Council’s website.
