Children will be able to cook up a storm and come face-to-face with native animals in the City of Logan these coming school holidays.

Action-packed activities will be offered by Logan Libraries and the KRANK School Holiday Program during December and January.

Included are kids’ cooking classes, Christmas-themed craft, junior mechanic workshops and dodgebow sessions.

The city’s libraries will host free, fun events and activities for teens and younger children including cartooning sessions, craft maker space activities and LEGO robotics workshops.

Professional illustrator Mark Guthrie will teach participants how to create their own cartoons, illustrations and Christmas cards in a hands-on holiday drawing workshop.

Geckoes Wildlife Show will run sessions at different library branches between Tuesday, January 9 and Thursday, January 18.

Children can meet owls, wombats, possums, crocodiles, pythons, turtles and lizards while learning fun wildlife facts and listening to fascinating stories.

Bookings for the library’s holiday program can be made via Logan Library.

The KRANK program, featuring activities for children from 5 to 17 years, will run from Saturday, January 6 until Sunday, January 21.

Bookings open at 9am on Monday, December 11 online via KRANK.

No bookings can be accepted before this date.

Activities are always popular and those interested are encouraged to book early once the booking window opens.

KRANK program booklets are available at Council’s Customer Service Centres and  Logan Libraries or visit the website for the full program.

Lifestyle Chair Councillor Tony Hall said the extensive program of free and low-cost interactive activities on offer from Logan Libraries and KRANK throughout the school holidays would banish any boredom.

“Through an enhancement of the KRANK program, there are 16 new providers on board these school holidays and more than 40 new activities available,” Cr Hall said.

“Participants can try new things as well as enjoy previously held popular activities.

“From outdoor sports to performing arts there is fun on offer to suit everyone’s interests and tastes.”

The Charles siblings from Daisy Hill – Isaac, 11, and Isabella 10 – have previously attended KRANK and look forward to participating again.

Isaac encourages children to sign up for a KRANK Kids in the Kitchen session as he enjoyed each step of the cooking process and eating what he made at the end.

“It’s really fun and allows you to interact with others,” he said.
