Support is now available for more City of Logan suburbs impacted by last year’s Christmas Day storm.

The Australian Government has extended its Disaster Recovery Payment to include the suburbs of Yarrabilba and Holmview.

The payment includes $1000 for each eligible adult, and $400 for each eligible child.

Applications can be made through myGov from 2:00pm on Wednesday, February 14.

The extended funding program adds to joint Federal-State financial hardship assistance payments already made to impacted residents in Cedar Creek, Cedar Grove, Cedar Vale, Eagleby, Flagstone, Glenlogan, Jimboomba, Logan Village, Mundoolun, Riverbend, Tamborine, Veresdale and Woodhill.

Those in need of claim assistance can call the Australian Government Emergency information line on 180 22 66. Assistance is also available in languages other than English via the Centrelink multilingual phone service on 131 202.

Logan City Council’s storm clean-up works are continuing along local streets. Important information for the community includes:

  • Council’s kerbside clean-up program is continuing as scheduled on local streets, despite some delays caused by weather. More information can be found at: Kerbside cleanup
  • Green and hard waste disposal remains free for storm-impacted residents at Council’s waste and recycling facilities at Browns Plains, Logan Village, Greenbank, Beenleigh and Carbrook. Residents who cannot attend a waste facility should continue to stack un-mulched green waste neatly on the kerb.
  • Residents still in need of financial support can also call the Queensland Government’s dedicated Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
  • Up-to-date information on the city’s storm recovery continues to be available at: Storm recovery updates
