Pest management and biosecurity

Biosecurity plan

The City of Logan Biosecurity Plan (2017 – 2022) describes how we will manage specific pests in Logan.

The plan covers 223 pest plants and animals, from foxes through to cat’s claw creeper, and explains what we will do to manage their impact on our environment.

In Queensland, the Biosecurity Act 2014 says that all Queenslanders have a ‘general biosecurity obligation’. This means that everyone is responsible for managing pest plants and animals that:

  • are under their control
  • they know about, or should reasonably be expected to know about.

Biosecurity Surveillance Program 2020 to 2021

The Biosecurity Act 2014 states that local government needs to make sure that Prohibited Invasive Biosecurity Matter and Restricted Invasive Biosecurity Matter (invasive plants and invasive animals) are managed within their area.

The City of Logan - Biosecurity Surveillance Program 2020 to 2021 (PDF 382 KB) outlines how we will monitor invasive pest plants and animals in Logan.
