Where can a community garden be set up?

Community gardens can be on private property or Council owned or controlled land. If you are unsure who owns the land at the site you would like to use, please call us on 07 3412 3412.

What is our role?

Community gardens are funded, managed and enjoyed by their members – by people like you who look after the gardens.

Council’s role in community gardens is to:

  • provide advice to interested groups
  • help identify and support groups with applications for grants, funding and resources
  • connect local garden groups and encourage knowledge and skill sharing
  • promote the gardens through our website, newsletters and events
  • consider requests to use Council land, Crown land, parks and open spaces.

Logan’s Community Garden Policy (PDF 128 KB) describes the ways that council can get involved in community gardens.
