School and community waste education program

Our free Waste Education Program is available to residents and local schools in Logan.  The Program offers presentations, workshops and landfill tours of the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility.

Presentations give teachers, students, and community groups the opportunity to learn about waste management and recycling from our experts. The content developed for primary, middle, and high school aligns with several strands of the Australian Curriculum.  Presentation and workshop topics include:

  • Waste Management and Recycling Contamination
  • Composting, Worm Farming and Organic Waste
  • Avoiding Single-use Plastics

Schools can apply for  one free tour of the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility each year. The tour includes travelling around the facility in a bus.  Landfill tours are not suited for students under the age of 12.

Bookings are limited. Please fill out the Logan School and Community Education Program – Expression of Interest form to register your interest.
