Sport and recreation funding

We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the Logan community. We do this by working with local sport and recreation organisations.

Active people – travel assistance grants

Your event may be impacted by the health directives and travel restrictions currently enforced by the Federal and State Government. These restrictions could even result in your nominated event being postponed or cancelled.

Due to this, we have changed the funding guidelines and successful applicants will now be paid after the event date.

Recipients of the grant will need to provide evidence that the event was held and will also need to submit proof of payment for expenses incurred. This can be done by submitting the acquittal form attached to your SmartyGrants profile.

This process will remain in place for the foreseeable future as we continue to manage the current situation.

We provide funding to help with the cost of participating in representative sport. Our Active people – travel assistance grants are available in partnership with the Brisbane Lions Australian Football Club. Grants can be used for all types of representative sport, to help pay for:

  • travel and accommodation expenses
  • compulsory competition fees
  • compulsory competition uniforms.

Active spaces – maintenance

Clubs and organisations can apply for funds to help with high-priority maintenance projects. You can apply for items like:

  • canteen / kitchen maintenance
  • facility maintenance
  • playing field maintenance
  • hard court surface maintenance.

Due to the financial hardship many sport and recreation clubs are experiencing as a result of the current COVID 19 pandemic, we will not require eligible organisations to contribute matched funding.

This proposal is a direct response to the current needs of the community. Council recognises that many clubs will not have the financial resources to commit matched funding to their proposed maintenance projects at this time.

Funding will be based on a sliding scale, dependant on 2019 membership numbers. This will ensure that every eligible club who applies will receive funding, without the need to contribute financially.
