We are delivering a major stormwater upgrade across Rochedale South.

Latest update

Woodlands Park is now open to the public. We would like to thank you all for your patience while we undertook rectification works at this park.


Works in Glengala Drive, Lancelot Street and Woodlands Drive are expected to commence in mid-2024.

We are investing in local neighbourhoods with new and upgraded roads, parks and drainage. The Woodlands Drive master drainage upgrade means better storm protection for properties in Rochedale South during future wet weather events. These works are part of Council’s $124.5m Capital Works Program.

Project timeline

The Woodlands Drive master drainage upgrade commenced in 2020. This complex upgrade will be delivered in stages across multiple streets over the coming years.

Works in Glengala Drive, Lancelot Street and Woodlands Drive are expected to commence in mid-2024.

Project features

The upgrade includes:

  • installation of new stormwater drainage including pipes, maintenance holes and culverts
  • wastewater pipelines drainage outlet improvements at Woodlands Park
  • landscaping at Woodlands Park
  • resurfacing and restoring parts of the road impacted by the works
  • replacing sections of kerb and footpaths, where required
  • reconstruction of some residential driveways (where required)
  • removing vegetation and tree trimming around the work zone (where required)
  • associated works including relocation of services and restoration activities.

Project benefits

The stormwater upgrade will deliver a range of benefits, including:

  • building a more resilient and reliable stormwater network
  • allowing stormwater to drain more efficiently
  • helping protect people and property.

Project impacts

We will make every effort to minimise disruption however, some temporary impacts can be expected:

  • changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, road or lane closures and detours (as needed). 
  • increased levels of noise, dust, and vibration.
  • loss of street parking and driveway access. Affected residents will be notified in advance.
  • temporary closure of Woodlands Park.
  • footpath closures and bus stop relocations.

Motorists are encouraged to plan their journey and allow extra travel time. We thank you for your cooperation while we complete these essential works.
