You may need a development approval if you want to keep more guinea pigs than an animal keeping approval allows. For more information please see Development in Logan.

Enclosure requirements

Preventing your guinea pigs from escaping is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. Enclosures should be in a clean and tidy condition at all times.

Enclosures must not be:

  • within 2 metres of the property boundary
  • within 10 metres of a neighbouring dwelling

General requirements

As a responsible pet owner, you must make sure keeping the guinea pigs does not cause:

  • a build-up of animal faeces
  • breeding or harbouring of flies or vermin
  • damage to property
  • harm to human health or safety
  • nuisance
  • disruption to a neighbour’s enjoyment
