Planning approval

Before submitting your application, you should make sure that the site has the correct land use for the proposed business and if any Development Approval is needed.

Plumbing approval

Higher risk personal appearance services may need plumbing and drainage approval for certain activities. This includes if you do not have access to a sewerage connection and have on-site sewage facilities.

Advertising signs licence

We have rules about the type and location of any advertising signs for businesses. Depending on the type of advertising sign, you may need a licence. Find out more about advertising signs.

Do you need a licence

Check if you need a licence and find out how to apply. If your business provides any service that has a higher risk of causing infection or spreading disease, like tattooing and body piercing, then you will need a higher risk personal appearance service licence.

Are other approvals needed?

Find out if other approvals are need or you need to lodge any other related applications (e.g. for other licences tattoo operator/tottooist or laser).

Training and qualifications

Check if any mandatory qualifications are required. Anyone at your business who provides a higher risk personal appearance service must complete mandatory training requirements.
