Loganlea Road Upgrade

Project overview

We are widening Loganlea Road, between the Logan Motorway at Meadowbrook, and to the northbound M1 on-ramp at Slacks Creek.

These $80 million dollar works are being delivered under our Major Roads Program and are funded in part by the Australian Government through the Investment Road and Rail Program.

Latest updates

  • From 8:00pm Friday, 11 October to 5:00am Monday 2004, the left turn slip lanes at the Loganlea Road - University Drive intersection will close for essential pavement works. Traffic controllers will guide road users to detours around the works. Please see contractor notice (PDF 408 KB)
  • From early April 2024, expect temporary traffic changes for bridge works and lane widening from Ray Hodgson Bridge to Golf Course Drive. Changes will be signed.
  • Changes to shared pathways from late March 2024. Please see contractor notice for shared path updates (PDF 921 KB).

  • Bus stop on Loganlea Road, near Ellerslie Road was reopened following works (Stop ID 312596). Affected routes: 560, 562, 564, 4417, 4462.
  • Nightworks from late July 2024 on the new southbound alignment Contractor notice Loganlea Road - July 2024 (PDF 2.4 MB)
  • Installation of street lighting conduits along the eastern verge of Loganlea Road towards University Drive. Please see contractor notice.
  • Traffic switch: Southbound traffic moved onto the new alignment, allowing for the completion of median works. These works commenced in early September 2024.
  • Due to weather and construction conditions, project completion is now expected in early 2025.

Project features

The upgrade will: 

  • widen Loganlea Road to 3 lanes in both directions
  • add a new northbound lane and shared path on the Ray Hodgson Bridge
  • install new stormwater infrastructure and kerbing to improve road and verge drainage
  • add a new shared pathway northbound and upgrades to the existing southern pathway
  • upgrade and add new traffic signals at intersections
  • add new and upgraded bus stops
  • add fauna protection fencing from Queens Road to the Slacks Creek Environmental Park.

Project timeline

Early service relocation works started in late 2022. Early works including clearing commenced from March 2023.

The project is expected to be completed in early 2025, subject to weather and construction conditions.

Project benefits 

The Loganlea Road major upgrade project will deliver a range of benefits, including: 

  • improved traffic flow and less congestion 
  • quicker and more reliable travel times 
  • a safer environment for vehicles, people who ride bikes and pedestrians as traffic increases. 

Project impacts

  • Changed traffic conditions including reduced speed limits, lane closures and detours (as needed).
  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration.
  • Temporary loss of street parking and restricted driveway access.
  • Temporary footpath closures and bus stop relocations.
  • Temporary water, sewer and power disruptions.
  • Intermittent nightworks where required from Sunday to Friday, 6:00pm to 6:00am (residents will be notified).
