Accessible services in Logan

We want Logan to be an accessible and inclusive city, where everyone is welcome. Our Disability Action Plan has over 100 actions we will take to improve access and inclusion for people with disability in the City of Logan over the next two years.

We have Customer service centres in Logan Central, Beenleigh and Jimboomba.

Accessible features include:

If you are attending Council to meet with a staff member in person and need to sign-in, we provide touchless entry points through email and QR code. Please contact the Council staff member for more information before your meeting.

Logan Libraries

Our libraries offer a wide range of accessible resources, services and events.

Aquatic Centres and Leisure Centres

Aquatic Centres and Leisure Centres provide a range of accessible gyms, pools and sports centres. Some venues provide accessible change facilities.

Logan Art Gallery 

Logan Art Gallery provides diverse work of visual artists, craft workers and designers. It presents dynamic exhibitions for residents and visitors. Accessible programs include:

  • Art + Dementia program for people with dementia and their companions.
  • descriptive exhibition tours for people with vision-impairment.

Active & Healthy program

Active & Healthy offers a variety of physical activities and healthy living programs for everyone to enjoy all year round. These activities are all free or low cost.

Some of our accessible programs include:

  • Barrier Breakers - Strength and Conditioning
  • Dancing (Adapted chair bellydance)
  • Pilates (Parkinson's and MS)

KRANK

KRANK is a school holiday program for Logan residents aged 5 to 17 years and is jam-packed with a huge variety of free and low cost activities and classes.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

The NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life.

Early Childhood Early Intervention

The Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach supports children aged under seven years who have a developmental delay or disability, and their families / carers.

Carers Queensland Local Area Coordinators

To access and receive support for the National Disability Insurance scheme, Carers Queensland provides Local Area Coordinator for people aged between 7 and 65 years old for people with disability and psychosocial disability.

There is now a Disability Information Helpline you can call on 1800 643 787 for all kinds of COVID-19 related help and information.

Its available Monday to Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm (AEST) and Saturday and Sunday 9:00am to 7:00pm (AEST). It’s not available on national public holidays.

Disability Housing Information Line

Information and advice to people living in Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), their supporters and accommodation providers is available on the Disability Housing Information Line website.

It's available Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm (AEST). Call on 1800 843 929 for independent information and advice about your housing rights.

Home dialysis and medical treatment water concessions

If you use home dialysis or use water to treat a medical condition, you may use a lot of water. We offer a water concession to help with the cost of high water use.

Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme (MASS)

The Queensland Government subsidy funding for medical aids and equipment that is available to eligible Queenslanders with permanent / stable conditions or disabilities.

Disability Parking

Disability parking bays are available for use by people who have a disability parking permit. These bays provide more space and easy access to services.

Our Community Parking Officers monitor disability parking bays to make sure the spaces are not used by people who do not have a disability parking permit. For a list of monitored facilities, please see Disability parking.

Disability parking permits are issued by The Department of Transport and Mains Roads (TMR).

TransLink Access Pass

The TransLink Access Pass is a travel pass for people with a permanent physical or intellectual disability. For more information about this pass, please visit the TransLink website.

Vision Impairment Travel Pass

Vision Impairment Travel Pass (VITP) holders can travel on all TransLink services (excluding Airtrain) and regional gconnect bus services for free.

Taxi Subsidy Scheme

The Taxi Subsidy Scheme (TSS) subsidises taxi travel—half of the total fare, up to a maximum of $25 per trip—for people with severe disabilities.

Queensland Community Support Scheme

The Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS) provides support to people who, with a small amount of help, can maintain or regain their independence, continue living safely in their homes, and actively participate in their communities.

Companion Card

The Companion Card can help you with the costs of getting out and about with the support of a companion. If you have a disability and a lifelong need for 'attendant care support' Companion Card holders receive a second 'companion' ticket at no charge at participating venues and on public transport.
