The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) supports the development of arts and cultural practices including visual arts, craft and design, multimedia, film, theatre, music, dance, literature and writing and heritage, including intangible heritage (e.g. stories).
RADF is a partnership between state and local government to invest in quality arts and cultural experiences across Queensland based on locally determined priorities.
Grants are open for individuals, groups, organisations or Council to address arts, culture and heritage priorities that:
- Support local artists and arts and cultural activity to deliver value for local communities
- Provide opportunities for local communities to participate in arts and cultural activities
- Invest in locally determined priorities delivered through arts and cultural activity
- Contribute towards current government priorities

- Logan-based community groups and organisations to engage a professional art, culture or heritage workers to develop their arts practice; or
- Present arts development workshops or community projects, including documentation, preservation, interpretation and collection management training.

Cultural Tourism / Creative Project

To support projects or activities that focus on Logan’s locally distinct arts, culture and/or heritage both for members of that community and for visitors; or preservation and/or improved access to locally held collections of significance, and/or to collect and tell local stories from the past and the present of significance to Logan.
- Product development by professional artists, either as individuals or in partnership with individual community members or community groups.
- Significant art projects that engage professional artists, are accessible to the public and demonstrate a benefit to local placemaking, community pride of place and social cohesion.
- Community stories which can be documented in a variety of forms and mediums including plays, videos, artwork, digital exhibitions, education programs, oral histories and publications.
- Residencies undertaken by Logan creatives in the City of Logan.

To support innovative arts projects where artists, communities and councils work together in their community, or in partnership with another community, to achieve enhanced outcomes from RADF grants and that can demonstrate a partnership between:

These are Council-led arts related projects that deliver on the current Logan City Council Arts, Culture and Heritage Plan 2023-2027 actions. Only Council is eligible to apply under this category for up to 3 initiatives per financial year.

Quick Response Grants
Applications are open all year round. Outcomes advised 4 weeks after successful submission. Some flexibility may be possible, if required please contact us.
Skills Development and Project Grants
- Applications are provided across 2 competitive rounds per year.
- Visit RADF for upcoming assessment rounds.
Applicants must be based in the Logan local government area (LGA) or demonstrate how the project will directly benefit arts, culture and heritage in the Logan Local Government Area. RADF does not support 100 per cent of any project. Applicants are required to make a significant contribution to the project, of at least 40 per cent, which may be in-kind.
Who can apply?
- Individual professional artists, arts workers, cultural workers or project coordinators who:
- are permanent residents or Australian citizens
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Partnerships, collectives, or artist run initiatives
- Not-for-profit organisations that are legally registered in Australia. This can include incorporated organisations, companies limited by guarantee, non-trading co-operatives, Indigenous corporations, etc.
What we can fund
Initiatives that:
- Meet the purpose of these grants and address the assessment criteria specific to the program and/or category benefit the Logan community and are delivered within the Logan local government area.
Costs associated with:
- Assistance for up to 60 per cent of the total costs.
- Intrastate and interstate activities only (international travel cannot be supported)
- Travel, accommodation, and fees associated with employing professional artists or arts workers to work on community projects or workshops in the local community
- Materials and equipment up to $1,000 (Quick response not applicable)
- Venue hire (Quick response not applicable)
- Marketing and promotion up to $500 (Quick response not applicable)
- Research and documentation (Quick response not applicable)
What we can’t fund
- Amateur arts activities except for professional services to amateur arts activity. (One of the main RADF aims is to develop professional artists in the regions. Note: Emerging professional artists are eligible for funding).
- Applicants who do not have an Australian Business Number (ABN).
- Applicants who have outstanding debts with Council or overdue acquittals for any Council grants program.
- Projects for which arts workers are paid less than the recommended rates
- Activities that commence before Council approval is given. RADF should not be used as a ‘top-up’ fund.
- Craft workshops – unless a professional artist or arts worker is employed to work with a craft group to apply their skills in an innovative way to an arts development outcome.
- School arts activities except where those activities form part of broader community cultural development processes or are part of professional arts development.
- More than 20 per cent of costs associated with framing or freight, which will only be considered for significant exhibitions.
- Arts competitions or eisteddfods, which are prolific and could monopolise funds.
- Cost associated with publishing and printing costs. Up to 20 per cent of the total publishing cost may be considered for significant projects.
- Purchase of capital items, such as equipment, buildings or vehicles. The only exception is for items that are included as part of a significant project that the RADF Committee considers integral to that project; and where the item will remain available for community use.
- Recurrent funding for arts organisations (operational expenses are ineligible under RADF including wages for permanent staff and office expenses).
- Accredited study, training or university courses (RADF does not fund the primary training of artists only their professional development once they are practicing).
- RADF does not support 100 per cent of any project. Applicants are required to make a significant contribution to the project, of at least 40 per cent, which may be in-kind.
- Applicants will only be eligible for 1 successful application and can reapply 12 months after successfully acquitting pervious RADF grant.

- Please consider and follow the application timeframes for each program when submitting an application.

Application assessment |
- Your application will first be checked for eligibility.
- If eligible, your application will be reviewed by an assessment panel:
- Quick Response Grant outcomes are advised up to 4 weeks after application submission
- Skills Development and Project Grants are assessed twice a year with outcomes advised up to 8 weeks after the round closes.

- If successful, you’ll be sent a funding agreement.

Delivery |
- You must deliver your activity in accordance with the application. Any requests to change your delivery and/or budget must made in writing as a project variation before the changes can happen.
- Our grants officer will be available to support you during delivery, if required and appropriate.

Acquittal |
- All grant recipients are required to complete an acquittal. To ensure this is successful you must:
- Keep copies of receipts for all expenses related to your grant funding. You’ll need to attach these to your acquittal.
- Complete the acquittal within 8 weeks of your planned end date.
- Any unspent funds will need to be returned to Council.
- Council reserves the right to include any further conditions of funding, as required.

All Regional Arts Development Funding applicants will be notified in writing of their outcome.
Successful applicants
Successful applicants will receive a funding agreement outlining the full terms and conditions of the grant. The funding agreement will need to be read, acknowledged, and agreed to before funding will be made available.
All successful applicants must:
- Confirm continued agreement with these guidelines.
- Adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in their funding agreement.
- Deliver the project in line with the contents of the approved application.
- Follow any special conditions set by Council.
Unsuccessful applicants
Unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing. For feedback on your application, please see the contact details provided in your notification email.
Unsuccessful applications are welcome to reapply in future rounds.
