New city vision

We want to transform the City of Logan over the next 50 years. Our aim is to improve the quality of life for current and future generations who call the City of Logan home.

To achieve this, we will work closely with the community to create a shared vision, one that is bold, future-focused, and grounded in what matters most to our community.

Through Transform Logan, we will develop a set of city-wide goals to help us become the city we want to be by 2075. The goals will be shaped around 5 key themes and supported by a pipeline of projects and investment over the short, medium and long-term.

  • City shape, mobility and infrastructure - planning for connected and accessible neighbourhoods
  • Economic transformation - supporting local jobs, innovation and investment
  • Natural areas - protecting and enhancing our green spaces
  • Water, waste and energy - building a more sustainable and resilient city
  • Thriving community - fostering wellbeing, inclusion and opportunity for all.

Building on the Logan Community Vision

This long-term strategic planning builds on the Logan Community Vision, a vision created and owned by the community through broad engagement, including a deliberative panel. In 2020, Logan City Council invited the community to shape a 10-year vision that captured ideas across 9 themes to guide Council’s decision making. Many of the projects and priorities in that vision have since been delivered or are underway. Now, it’s time to take the next step. Transform Logan is about refreshing that vision, raising our ambition, and planning for the next 50 years.

This new phase will build on what we’ve learned, protect what our community values most, and set bold, long-term goals to help Logan thrive for generations to come.

As we plan for the future, it’s critical to move beyond short-term thinking and embrace a long-term vision that reflects our city’s unique strengths and challenges. The projects shaping Logan’s future

A number of exciting projects are already underway or in development, each with the potential to help shape the future of our city.

Through Transform Logan, we want to build on this momentum by taking a more holistic, long-term approach to planning and delivering major projects. This means thinking beyond the next few years and creating a clear, coordinated pipeline of initiatives that align with our community’s vision and the city’s strategic direction.

These projects will span the short, medium and long term, and will be designed to deliver real outcomes across the five key themes of Transform Logan.

Community voices guiding the vision

Community engagement has been at the heart of Transform Logan, with thousands of voices helping shape the city’s future. Over an eight-month period, the engagement phase provided Council with a strong foundation for long-term planning, drawing insights from a diverse cross-section of Logan which included residents, young people, business leaders, and students.

Engagement activities included:

  • A demographically representative Community Reference Panel
  • A city-wide public survey
  • Targeted workshops with primary school students, youth networks, and
  • A business roundtable with local industry leaders.
