Service Description

A

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services The Nyeumba-Meta collection is located at the Logan Central Library. It contains 1,000 items including storytelling kits, books, videos and artefacts.
Accessibility centre The accessibility centre is located at Logan North Library. It has computers, equipment and resources for people with vision, hearing and mobility disabilities and learning differences.
Adult collections Adult fiction is shelved alphabetically by the author’s name. Adult non-fiction is shelved numerically using the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
Ask a librarian Trained staff can help you with a variety of questions like finding information for a school project, reading recommendations and research assignments. Refer to Ask a question.
Audio visual You can borrow DVDs, CDs and MP3s. You can borrow up to 20 items at a time.
Audio loops Audio loops help people with a hearing impairment to access clear, distortion-free sound without the distraction of background noise. Audio loops have been installed in Logan Central and Logan North libraries.

Children's section We offer free sessions or events for children of all ages including Baby time, Story time, Kids Club, Teen Chill, Robotics, Homework help, Page turners reading program and School holiday activities. To find out more about events visit Events and bookings.

Catalogue Borrow from our extensive collections of books, magazines, DVDs, CDs and audio books in hard copy or digital. You can access the collection in the catalogue.
Computer classes Our libraries offer regular training sessions to help you improve your computer skills. Online training courses are also available at any time through our eLibrary.

Drive through The Logan Hyperdome Library has a drive through where you can pick up your reserved items.

eBooks and eMedia eBooks and audio books are available for free download from the eLibrary.
Events calendar Hundreds of activities and events are held in our libraries every year to encourage literacy, leisure and learning for all ages. See the events calendar to register online to attend an upcoming event.

First 5 Forever In the first five years, little moments make a big difference. By talking, singing, reading and playing together every day, families support their child's brain development. This can help build a lifelong love of learning and discovery for little ones. The First 5 Forever programs support families to make the most of this time. Visit First 5 Forever.

Genealogy and family history Our local studies collection is at Logan Central Library. It includes genealogy resources to help you with your family history research. CD-ROM indexes are also available at every library.
General facilities All libraries have free parking, wheelchair access, baby change facilities, photocopying and community notice boards.

Heritage, local and family history Our local studies collection is located at Logan Central Library. You can search genealogical resources and immigration records. For more information, please call 07 3412 4165.
Home library service Our home library volunteers provide library material to residents of Logan City who are confined to home. For more information or to become a volunteer, please see Home library.

Interlibrary loans If you can't find what you are after in our catalogue please ask a librarian to look for it at another library.
Internet and computer access Free internet access and Wi-Fi are available at every library. Computers offer Microsoft Office 2021 on Windows 11. You can hire an external DVD drive with your PC session. Book via phone or in the library.

L

Languages other than English (LOTE) We offer a range of magazines and newspapers for readers of languages other than English. You can find these items in the catalogue using a subject browse search with the phrase ‘text in'(e.g. text in Japanese). If your language is not available, please ask staff if it can be borrowed from the State Library of Queensland.
Libraries Learning and Discovery Plan 2025 to 2029

The new Libraries Learning and Discovery Plan(PDF, 2MB) will contribute to a thriving, forward-thinking community. It will embrace innovation, diversity and equality for all.

Residents across the city can enjoy library programs, services and collections. This includes the city's urban, rural, established or developing areas. We will use technology to deliver accessible services. Our libraries will put in place sustainable processes to meet the needs of our community.

Loans We have self-checkout machines at all libraries.
Logan history Check our Logan history pages to find historical photos and local information. The Logan Central Library has a dedicated local studies room where you can do research about the local area.

Magazines and newspapers We have a wide range of magazines and local and interstate newspapers. Also visit eNewspapers and eMagazines.
Membership To become a library member, you’ll need proof of your identity and current address details (e.g. your driver’s licence). Membership is free for Queensland residents.

Meeting rooms We have meeting rooms available at Beenleigh, Logan Central, Logan Hyperdome, Logan North, Logan West and Marsden libraries. To book please visit Bookable spaces.

Automatic hot water, whiteboard, data projector and screen, tables and chairs may be available. 
Music room

The Marsden Library music studio is a space for you to jam and record music. The studio has a range of equipment available free of charge to library members, including:

  • electric keyboard
  • electric drum kit
  • nylon semi-acoustic guitar
  • steel string semi-acoustic guitar
  • electric guitar
  • electric bass guitar

Online learning tools Members can access a wide range of online information and training courses to help with research or general interest. You can find these in the eLibrary. You can access most of our online materials from home at any time.

Photocopying, printing and fax facilities Our libraries offer black and white or colour photocopying and printing. Black and white copies are 15 cents for A4 and A3. Colour A4 photocopies and printouts are $2. Colour A3 photocopies are $4. Fax facilities are available for sending faxes. Visit 3D printing for information on our 3D printing service.

R

Reading and writing help All libraries have a learning materials collection with material for people who want help learning English or improving literacy and numeracy skills. The collection includes workbooks, graded readers, computer software and audio visual material.
Returns Return chutes are available at all libraries. After-hours chutes are located outside each library.
Research and readers advisory services All libraries have qualified digital services librarians available to help with your information needs. You can speak with them in person or online with our ask a librarian service. Our librarians are dedicated to helping you find answers to your questions - whether you want to know what to read next or something specific like how to make a robot.

Sensory space Marsden Library's sensory space is a hands-on environment for families and children. It provides users the opportunity to explore and learn together using their senses. For more information please visit Sensory space.
Study rooms Our study rooms are an ideal environment for studying. To make a booking please visit Bookable spaces.

What's on All 9 libraries host regular free activities and events for all ages. These include training in technology, book clubs, story times, author visits and talks by guest speakers. To discover what is happening at your library, please see the events calendar.
Wi-Fi facilities Access to Wi-Fi is available to members free of charge at all libraries. Please refer to our terms and conditions.
