Don’t be caught out in a flood, severe storm, bushfire, or heatwave with Logan Early Warning. Get severe weather alerts straight to your phone or email.

Logan Early Warning allows you to plan, prepare for and respond to severe weather events before they happen.

The Logan Early Warning service will help you to become familiar with potential hazards and risks that may affect our city. It encourages you to take early action to reduce any potential damage that may occur during severe weather.

What do I receive?

Logan Early Warning will send you alerts for potentially dangerous weather, bushfires, planned burns and floods within Logan. You may also receive custom messages related to disaster and emergency situations.

Optional flood notifications

Flood notifications give you information on flood levels and allow you to:

  • watch your local conditions
  • prepare your home and family
  • respond when you receive notifications.

You can subscribe to receive flood notifications for some locations across the city, including:

  • Albert River at Beenleigh
  • Albert River at Tamborine
  • Albert River at Wolffdene
  • Henderson Creek at Cusack Lane
  • Logan River at Logan Village
  • Logan River at Maclean Bridge
  • Logan River at Parklands
  • Logan River at Waterford
  • Logan River at Kilmoylar Road
  • Oxley Creek at Goodna Road
  • Quinzeh Creek at Pineview Road
  • Schmidts Creek at Bayes Road
  • Schmidts Creek at Schmidts Road
  • Scrubby Creek at Kurrajong Drive
  • Slacks Creek at Loganlea Road.

Flood notification types

There are four different types of flood warnings:

  • minor flood warning
  • moderate flood warning
  • major flood warning
  • river/creek falling.

We recommend that you do not solely rely on the Logan Early Warning flood notifications. Use our Preparedness information and tools to better understand your risk of flooding and isolation.

How do I receive the information?

You can receive alerts by:

  • SMS
  • email
  • text-to-voice for landlines. 

Frequently asked questions

Why is the app being discontinued?

The decision has been made to decommission The Logan Early Warning app, as alert notifications can be sent by email and SMS. We are continually looking at better ways to keep the community informed during severe weather. Early Warning Network is also continually exploring new alert features, some of which cannot be supported through the Logan Early Warning app.

When is the app being discontinued?

The Logan Early Warning App is no longer sending alert notifications and will eventually be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Do I have to do anything?

Current app users will automatically switch to SMS alerts via Early Warning Network. Email and SMS alerts will continue as normal. 

Will there be any changes to the types of alerts I receive?

You’ll still receive critical alerts about:

  • severe weather
  • flooding
  • bushfire and planned burns
  • custom emergency and disaster messages.
  • new hail alerts are now available for registered users when hail of 2 centimetres or larger is detected in your area. 

Where can I update or delete my details?

Early Warning Network website

You can update or delete your account anytime through Early Warning Network website.

What should I do if I stop receiving alerts?

If you notice you are no longer receiving alerts, check your account settings, ensure your contact details are up to date, and verify your device settings (e.g., SMS blocking, email spam filters). For technical support, contact Early Warning Network.

Can I download The Logan Early Warning App onto a new device?

No. The app is no longer available for download on new devices.

Is my personal data safe and who can access it?

When you registered for LEW, an account with basic details was created with Early Warning Network (EWN), the service provider. These details are used for system purposes only and are not shared.

What if I need emergency help during a disaster?

In case of immediate danger, always call emergency services (000).
