Community Development Funding
This funding provides financial support for organisations to respond to community priorities. The projects or initiatives delivered should add to the social and community development of the city.
Grants are open for organisations that meet the “community purpose” in our Grants to Community Organisations Policy(PDF, 158KB). This is defined as activities that:
- encourage a vibrant, engaged and resilient community
- build on the strengths in the local community
- value local collaboration and partnerships

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a project?
A project is something your organisation plans and delivers to help the Logan community. It usually takes place over a period of time and includes activities that builds skills, connects people, or solves a problem.
Here’s what makes something a project:
- It has a clear goal - like improving wellbeing, building community connections, or supporting people to learn something new.
- It includes a planned program of activities
If your idea is for a specific occasion (like a celebration or open day), it’s probably an event, and you should apply for Community Event Funding instead. If you’re unsure, reach out to our grants team for assistance.
What is a partnership?
A partnership means working together with another organisation to make your project better. Here’s what that looks like:
- You can team up with any kind of organisation - like a business, charity, school, or community group. But the main applicant (the one applying for the grant) must be an eligible organisation under the Community Development Funding guidelines.
- A partnership is not just about hiring someone to run a one-hour workshop. It’s about working together, sharing ideas, and helping each other to make the project happen.
- You will need to give us a letter from your partner organisation as part of your grant application. This letter should explain what they will do to help with the project - not just say they support you. It should include details about what they’re contributing, how they’ll be involved, and what role they’ll play in the project.
- A good partnership shows that you and your partner are both committed to the project and working together to make it a success.
What does “benefit to the broader Logan community” mean?
Your project should help the wider Logan community - not just your members, clients, or students. Think about how your project includes or supports people beyond your organisation.
Can I apply for equipment only?
No. CDF does not fund applications that are only for equipment. Funding for equipment is only available if it is critical to the successful delivery of your project.
Also, an application can't request funding towards maintenance or renewal of equipment.
