Community Benefit Fund (Councillors' discretionary funding)
The Community Benefit Fund (CBF) is a discretionary fund that helps the Mayor and Councillors provide financial support to community organisations for community purposes.
The CBF operates under, and Council allocates an annual budget in accordance with, sections 201B and 202 of the Local Government Regulation 2012, the Local Government Act 2009 and Council’s Community Grants Policy(PDF, 490KB).
Funding available
The total amount budgeted as discretionary funds for the 2026/2027 financial year is $364,527.41.
The amounts available for allocation by each Councillor are:

Discretionary funds will not be allocated for any capital works or improvements through this program.
Successful organisations will not receive GST on grant funding.
Timeframes
Applications are open until 30 April each financial year or until divisional funds run out (whichever comes first).
Allow a minimum of 4 weeks for your application to be processed and the outcome to be advised. We recommend that you contact your local Councillor prior to submitting your application.
How to apply
- Carefully read the Community Benefit Fund Guidelines(PDF, 1006KB) before applying to ensure your organisation and funding request are eligible.
- Fill out and submit your application through our online grants platform, SmartyGrants.
- Incomplete, emailed or handwritten applications cannot be accepted.
- You can request funding from either the Mayor or one of the Councillors. The nominated Councillor or Mayor may then invite other Councillors to consider co-funding your application.
- It is recommended that you request funding from the division within Logan that will benefit most from your application. Your application should clearly outline how the community will benefit.
