Community Benefit Fund (Councillors' discretionary funding)

The Community Benefit Fund (CBF) is a discretionary fund that helps the Mayor and Councillors provide financial support to community organisations for community purposes.

The CBF operates under, and Council allocates an annual budget in accordance with, sections 201B and 202 of the Local Government Regulation 2012.

Available funding

Under S201B of the Local Government Regulation 2012, Council can allocate up to 0.1 per cent of revenue from general rates from the previous financial year for the purpose of discretionary funds.

Within 20 business days after adopting its budget for the financial year, Council will make publicly available a notice stating the total amount budgeted for discretionary funds. The CBF will then open for applications. We anticipate that this will be mid-late July 2026.

Application timeframes

CBF is currently closed and will reopen in July 2026.

Alongside Council grants, there are other funding opportunities that you could consider for your activity.
