Pensioner concessions

Pensioners may be eligible for a discount on rates for their owner-occupied property.

Council pensioner concessions 

Council offers pensioner concessions on general rates to eligible property owners:

  • Full pensioners may receive up to $469.04 per year
  • Part pensioners may receive up to $234.52 per year

If you hold a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Pension Gold Card, your ownership will be treated as sole ownership, making you eligible for the maximum concession available.

Please note: If there are multiple eligible pensioner owners, the total concession applied to the property will not exceed $469.04 per year.

State Government subsidy

The Queensland Government offers the following subsidies:

  • up to 20 percent subsidy on rates and charges, to a maximum of $200 per year
  • a 20 percent subsidy on the State Emergency Levy
  • up to $120 per year off the cost of water charges.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a rates concession or subsidy, you must:

  • be the owner or a life tenant of the property (A life tenancy can be created through a valid Will - effective after the property owner's death, or by order of the Supreme or Family Court.)
  • live in the property as your permanent residence
  • hold a current Queensland Centrelink Pensioner Concession Card or a Department of Veterans' Affairs Gold Card.

How to apply

To apply, you must hold a valid concession card, and the name and address on your card must match the name and address on your rates notice.

Recently changed address

If you receive a rates concession or subsidy and you have recently sold and bought another property within Logan, you will need to apply for a pensioner concession on your new home. Concessions and subsidies are not transferred from one property to another.

Eligible Cards
