Footpaths and nature strips
We repair and maintain footpaths, nature strips and drainage reserves in Logan City.

Mowing
Residents are responsible for mowing nature strips in residential areas.
If Council receives a request or complaint about an overgrown nature strip, we will inspect the area and carry out a risk assessment. Action may be taken if the nature strip:
- has grass generally higher than 500 millimetres
- obstructs visibility for road users
- restricts the safe movement of pedestrians
- significantly affects the appearance or amenity of the neighbourhood

Assisted mowing program
We understand that some community members may be unable to mow their nature strip due to a disability or medical reasons. To support eligible residents we can include these properties in a scheduled mowing program, usually carried out every three months.
To apply, please email us at council@logan.qld.gov.au with details of your circumstances and a copy of your medical certificate.
Request a new footpath
We use the following criteria to assess requests for new footpaths:
- potential use
- providing access and inclusion for all
- completing missing footpath links to achieve a connected network.

Gardens and artificial turf on footpaths
We encourage tree planting and beautification of our nature strips, but we need to make sure that gardens don’t cause any safety issues.

Shipping containers on footpaths
We may permit you to put a shipping container or skip bin on the footpath or nature strip area for up to 14 days.
You must ask for approval to make sure the shipping container or skip bin does not cause any safety issues. We will not approve applications for shipping containers to be placed over concrete pathways or on the roadway.
