Project overview
We are planning an upgrade to the intersection at Johnston Road and Forestdale Drive in Forestdale, with support from the Australian Government's Black Spot Program.
We are committed to improving road safety across Logan. The upgrade will help deliver a safer intersection by reducing the risk of potential crashes, by controlling the right turn from Johnson Road into Forestdale Drive.
The Black Spot Program was introduced as part of the Australian Government's commitment to reduce the risk of crashes. The program targets locations where crashes have occurred or are at risk of happening.
Project timeline
Logan City Council has completed the detailed design for the Johnson Road and Forestdale Drive intersection upgrade, including a range of environmental and cultural assessment approvals.
The project aims to deliver a safer intersection by controlling the right turn from Johnson Road into Forestdale Drive and has secured funding under the national Black Spot Program.
We will now seek tenders for construction and will continue to communicate with residents and business owners before works begin with further details, including timing and what you can expect.
Project features
The design includes:
- improved traffic signal timings to formalise when vehicles can go, stop and turn
- extending the right turn lane on Johnson Road into Forestdale Drive
- upgraded road line markings to enhance the visibility of the lanes.
