Project overview
We are designing a project to widen and upgrade Green Road between Mount Lindesay Highway and Rai Drive.
With our city's population set to increase by more than 50 percent by 2041, improving our road network is one of the ways Logan City Council is preparing for the future.
As part of this, we are planning a long-term upgrade to widen and improve Green Road between Mount Lindesay Highway and Rai Drive.
The Green Road upgrade is being designed to help improve traffic flow and create safer intersections to accommodate the expected traffic growth in the area.
Project timing
Preliminary design is complete. At this stage we do not have a timeline for detailed design work and construction.
We will keep the community updated as the project progresses.
Project features
The design includes:
- intersection upgrades with dedicated turning lanes and traffic signals at:
- Emerald Drive
- Solandra Circuit
- Sunrise Crescent
- Waller Road
- Isle of Ely Drive
- Bayliss Road
- Heritage Boulevard
- Blue Wren Place
- parking lanes on both sides of the road
- improved bike riding and pedestrian facilities
- Better flood protection over culvert crossings
- new line marking, drainage and other associated road works.
Project benefits
The Green Road Upgrade project will deliver a range of benefits, including:
- improved traffic flow and less congestion

- a safer environment for vehicles, people who ride bikes and pedestrians as traffic increases.
Land requirements
In late 2020, we contacted property owners to discuss potential property impacts as a result of the necessary upgrade.
The project is currently funded to preliminary design and property acquisition.

This project was part of the recent Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP) review.
The LGIP is a long-term plan over 15 years and outlines the infrastructure necessary to serve the community and support growth across the city. This includes water treatment facilities, sewerage treatment plants, major roads and parks.
The LGIP is designed to provide services in a coordinated and cost-effective way.
