Disability Action Plan 2023 to 2025

Council’s third Disability Action Plan ended in December 2025. 96 percent of the 105 actions were completed and 2 actions will be carried into the next plan.

Highlights include:

  • Welcomed 11,245 visitors to Logan North Library Accessibility Centre
  • Became a member of the Sunflower Hidden Disabilities Network
  • Kingston Butter Factory was named Accessible Venue of the Year for two years running at the Queensland Music Awards
  • Launched the online Accessibility Hub promoting accessible places, spaces and programs in Logan
  • Developed new Community Facility Guidelines which include considerations for AUSLAN, signage, quiet spaces, parking, seating and Changing Places at new facilities
  • Upgraded 14 parks with accessible play and other equipment
  • Completed Accessibility Audits on our Central Administration Centre and Citizenship Ceremonies
  • Upgraded approximately 118 bus shelters to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992
  • Employed 2 part time employees with disabilities in our Records Program
  • Awarded $517,359 grant funding for accessibility projects and events.

Our next Disability Action Plan

The process to write our next Disability Action Plan has begun and you can see our journey below.  

December 2025

  • Completed desktop review.

February 2026

  • A workshop was held with General Managers to identify priorities for the next plan.

March 2026

  • Council officially endorsed for a new plan to be developed.

April to May 2026

  • Community consultation due to take place (more information will be on our Have Your Say website shortly).

October 2026

  • We aim to launch our new plan around this time.
