Disability parking
Accessible parking spaces for individuals with disabilities are located throughout the City of Logan to support mobility-impaired residents and visitors in accessing all areas of the city.
Disability parking permits
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is responsible for the administration and issuing of disability parking permits.
To apply for a Disability permit, or for more information about disability parking permits and conditions of use, please visit Parking permits on the Queensland Government website or call 13 23 80.
There are 2 types of disability permits:
- Australian Disability Parking Permit
- Queensland Disability Parking Permit (Red Permit).
Where can I park?
You can use your Australian Disability Parking Permit to park for free in any timed on-street parking in local government metered and regulated parking areas:
- for up to 30 minutes, where a sign displays less than 30 minutes
- for an unlimited time, where a sign displays 30 minutes or more
- in parking bays displaying the international symbol of disability access for on and off-street parking bays.
Queensland Disability Parking Permits (Red Permits) holders are permitted to park in any off-street designated disability parking bay identified by the international symbol of access (regardless of sign colour).
The disability parking permit must be displayed when in any marked disability parking space or bay marked with either a disability road symbol or disability parking sign. The permit number and expiry date must be visible from outside the vehicle. If you park in a disability parking bay without displaying a permit, you may be fined.
Owners of private car parks (such as hospitals, shopping centres and clubs) may charge their own fees. You will need to check the terms and conditions of parking in private carparks.
When permits do not apply
Outside of the disability parking entitlements above, normal parking rules apply. Drivers with disability parking permits displayed should NOT park:
- in no stopping zones
- in bus zones
- beside yellow edge lines
- on footpaths or nature strips
- with the vehicle facing the wrong way.
Disability parking permits do not allow disability parking entitlements in a passenger loading zone. However, if dropping off or collecting a passenger who has a disability, the vehicle can be parked for up to 5 minutes in a passenger loading zone.
