Frequently asked questions

How much is the bursary?

Each recipient receives $5,000 across three years, paid in instalments each study period.

Is there income or means testing?

No. We use a non–means-tested approach based on a short applicant statement and a brief confirmation from your school or a community organisation.

Can I hold other scholarships?

No. If you accept another bursary or scholarship, notify Council so the award can be reallocated.

What counts as satisfactory progress?

Normally passing the agreed study load each period. If circumstances affect your study, contact us as soon as possible.

Do I have to attend the ceremony to keep my bursary?

Yes. If you are unable to attend, you will need to demonstrate extenuating circumstances for this to be considered.

If I want to study at TAFE, can I apply?

No, only University courses are accepted.

When will I know the outcome?

We aim to notify applicants in February each year.

Who funds the bursaries?
