Refunds or waivers for Animal Management fees
As part of operating the Animal Management Centre, we have a fair and transparent process for considering requests to refund or waive animal management fees and charges. This ensures that individuals facing genuine hardship, have medical or assistance needs, or are dealing with circumstances beyond their control are not disadvantaged by our animal management fee structure.
We may consider a refund or waiver if the applicant provides a written request demonstrating one or more of the following:
- Where they are experiencing serious financial hardship.
- Where they rely on the animal for genuine health reasons, supported by medical evidence. Alternatively, where the animal is a prescribed assistance animal.
- Where the animal was impounded, but the animal owner acted in accordance with relevant laws and impoundment happened due to circumstances beyond their control. Applicants must submit a written request explaining their circumstances and provide supporting evidence.
Each request will be assessed against the criteria above.
Based on this information, we will decide whether to grant a full or partial refund or waiver. We will let you know of the outcome in writing.
