Construction begins on McKinnon Sports Park South clubhouse

Logan City Council has started construction of a purpose-built clubhouse for McKinnon Sports Park South at Yarrabilba.
The clubhouse is the latest Council investment in the sports park, which is home to the Yarrabilba Tigers Touch football team, ranging from under 8s to open men’s and women’s teams.
Division 4 Councillor Nathan St Ledger said the $3.5 million investment from Council to design and construct the clubhouse marked a significant milestone.
“As someone who’s coached junior football for more than 20 years, I see first-hand the confidence, skills, and lifelong friendships kids get from playing in a club,” Cr St Ledger said.
“This purpose-built clubhouse will be a focal point for local athletes for years to come, and we’re proud to deliver it for the Yarrabilba community.”
Mayor Jon Raven said the clubhouse was a much-needed facility for the growing club, which had dozens of young boys and girls signed up as Tiny Tiggers in 2025.
“Our city continues to be one of the fastest growing in Australia and delivering community assets is a priority for Council,” Mayor Raven said.
“Yarrabilba is a popular home for young families, and we’re seeing kids of all ages get involved in sports in our parks and sports fields.
“These fields are the home grounds for hundreds of young athletes with bright futures.
“Who knows, they could even become footy legends some day.
“Thanks to Councillor St Ledger’s contribution of Local Infrastructure Program (LIP) funding, we were able to deliver the changerooms as part of this stage of works.”
Southern Queensland and Border Districts president Matthew Gilbertson says the club welcomes the investment from Council as more young people get involved in the sport.
“Every year we get even more interest in football and more young people wanting to get involved, we expect 2026 to be a huge year for the Tigers,”
“This clubhouse will provide much-needed facilities for players of all ages, and we can’t wait to see more incredible young athletes from Logan make it to the major leagues.”
The new clubhouse will have changerooms, first aid rooms and offices, and is expected to be completed in mid-2026.
McKinnon Sports Park South is located at 10 Maynor Court, Yarrabilba.
