Troupe to capture Logan’s stories of resilience
The City of Logan’s stories of resilience following Cyclone Alfred will be brought to life through improvisational theatre at an education and awareness event this month.
The May 21 event, run by Logan City Council, will allow residents to share their experiences during Cyclone Alfred and see their stories depicted on stage by the Red Threads Playback Theatre Troupe at the Beenleigh Events Centre.
It is a free event intended to highlight the incredible work of the community that kept Logan safe during and after the cyclone in early March, 2025.
Afternoon tea will be provided. Bookings are essential and can be made here.

Logan waterway upgrade to begin
Logan City Council is about to begin construction on a project to reconnect Slacks Creek with the natural environment and local community at Mabel Park.
During construction, the park’s footbridge will be closed and demolished to allow for a new bridge to be built by the end of the year, weather permitting.
Pedestrians and cyclists will need to follow signed detours via Wagensveldt St, Magill Rd, Meakin Rd and Paradise Rd at Slacks Creek, while Snowden St will also have minor traffic disruptions.
The playground, toilets and dog off leash area will remain open during construction.
The project is being delivered in two connected stages: stage 1 is funded by the Australian Government’s Urban Rivers and Catchments Program, with the support of Logan City Council and stage 2 is funded by the Queensland Government as part of the Green Urban Infrastructure commitment in the South East Queensland (SEQ) City Deal, with the support of Logan City Council.
The SEQ City Deal is a partnership between the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Council of Mayors (SEQ) that will deliver long-lasting benefits to the region.
