City of Logan Volunteer Awards

Overview

Each year more than 27,000 volunteers from our city show the strength of our community. The Volunteer Awards has taken place since 1988 and acknowledges the outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations in our community.

The following are presented at the awards:

  • Volunteer of the Year
    Presented to an individual in recognition of outstanding contribution as a volunteer in the City of Logan.

  • Outstanding Community Organisation
    Presented to a not-for-profit organisation, community group or program in recognition of their significant contribution to the community.

Selection criteria

The nomination will require the following information:

  • How the nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the City of Logan
  • How the nominee has achieved acts of kindness, generosity or other inspiration to people within the community
  • Supporting documentation for the above achievements
  • High quality image of the nominee.

Conditions of entry

  • Nominees must be a resident or an organisation within the City of Logan at the time of nomination.
  • Nominees must be aware you are nominating them or their organisation.
  • All nominations must have a nominator and address the selection criteria.
  • Each question criteria should be a minimum of 50 words and maximum of 250 words.
  • Nominations for volunteers who are also employed by Logan City Council will be subject to potential conflict of interest considerations.
  • Logan City Council elected representatives are not eligible for nomination.
  • All documentation will be kept by Logan City Council.
  • Contact details of nominators may be forwarded to local media.
  • Late nominations will not be accepted.
  • The Volunteer of the Year Award is available to only one recipient.
  • The Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year Award is available to only one organisation.
  • Nominations for the 2025 Awards have closed.

Terms and conditions

  1. All nominators must agree to the terms and conditions for their nomination to be considered part of the City of Logan Volunteer Awards.
  2. Nominees must be a resident or an organisation within the City of Logan at the time of nomination.
  3. The Volunteer of the Year Award is available to only one recipient.
  4. The Outstanding Community Organisation Award is available to only one organisation.
  5. Nominations for volunteers who are also employed by Logan City Council will be subject to potential conflict of interest considerations.
  6. Logan City Council elected representatives are not eligible for nomination. 
  7. All documentation will be kept by Logan City Council.
  8. Contact details of nominators may be forwarded to local media.
  9. Nominations close midnight on Sunday 16 March 2025. Late nominations will not be accepted.
  10. The winners for each category will be announced at the City of Logan Volunteer Awards on Saturday 17 May 2025. The results will be promoted post the event, from Saturday 17 May 2025 onwards.
  11. Entries are reviewed by Logan City Council staff to ascertain authenticity and eligibility. Logan City Council reserves the right to accept, clarify or reject an application at any stage during the process with no right of review. 
  12. Eligible entries are reviewed by the judging panel and the judge’s decisions are final and cannot be altered. Logan City Council’s decisions on all matters relating to the Awards are final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into. 
  13. By submitting a nomination, the nominator confirms that this information supplied is true and correct.
  14. All nominees must be prepared and willing to participate in media and marketing opportunities presented through the City of Logan Volunteer Awards; including but not limited to radio and TV appearances, interviews and posts on social media and website. 
  15. Information collected about nominees will only be used by Logan City Council to promote, advocate, and communicate about the awards, unless otherwise agreed upon at that time. 

Nominator consent

  1. By submitting a nomination, each nominator confirms consent and has the consent of any person whose personal information is contained in a nomination, to provide that information to Logan City Council to disclose that personal information to other parties for the purposes of conducting the Awards. 
  2. Each nominator consents to Logan City Council using the nominator’s statements, name, likeness, image, voice and/or participation in the Awards (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without further notification, remuneration or compensation for the purpose of promoting, publicising or marketing the Awards (including any outcome). The personal information of nominators will not be given to any third party, unless personally contacted and agreed upon. 
  3. If the nominator does not agree, the nominator must not provide their personal information or the personal information of anyone else and their nomination for the Awards may not be considered. 

Nominee consent

  1. By accepting their nomination, the nominee(s) (or if under the age of 18, the nominee’s parent or legal guardian) consent to: 
    1. Logan City Council using their nomination statements, name, likeness, image, voice and/or participation in the Awards (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for an unlimited period without further notification, remuneration or compensation for the purpose of promoting, publicising or marketing the Awards (including any outcome); and 
    2. Logan City Council using their personal information, and for Logan City Council to disclose their personal information to other parties including, for the purposes of conducting the Awards. The personal information of nominees will not be given to any third party, unless personally contacted and agreed upon, i.e. a media company wanting to interview a nominee, finalist or winner.
    3. Assigning nominees to become the property of Logan City Council. As such, Logan City Council is the owner of all copyright and other intellectual property in the award process. 
    4. If the nominee does not agree, the nominee will not be able to accept their nomination and will be ineligible for an Award. 
    5. The nominee will be required to confirm their acceptance of these Terms and Conditions by following the instructions set out in the email notification.
