E-waste (electronic waste) and mobile phones
Never put e-waste or mobile phones in the bin.
E-waste can contain toxic and hazardous materials. It needs to be handled, recycled and disposed of in a responsible manner.
Why binning e-waste is dangerous
Throwing old electronic items away in general waste and recycling bins is a serious fire hazard. Any item that has a battery or holds a charge can spark and cause a fire.
Incorrect disposal of electronic waste can release toxic substances like lead and mercury, harming the environment.
How to safely dispose of e-waste
Never bin your e-waste in general waste or recycling bins.
Bring your e-waste to any Council waste and recycling facility or find an e-waste recycler near you.
