Sign the ePetition - Park required for kids to play safely
Principal petitioner: Karthika Ramesh
Closing date: 25 May 2026

Hillcrest residents (new pocket of hillcrest) urgently need a proper park due to significant safety concerns, including children playing in residential streets leading to near accidents, and adults using unsuitable bus stops for exercise.
The nearby wetland reserve, called 'Jimmy's Park,' is not suitable for recreation as many residents, especially women, feel unsafe walking there alone, particularly in the dark, due to the presence of people perceived as dangerous.
A dedicated park would address these safety issues, prevent potential property damage, and provide a secure space for children.
Action required in response to this issue:
We petition Logan City Council to proactively plan and allocate resources for the development of a safe, well-maintained park within the Hillcrest community, providing a secure space for children to play and a suitable place for adults to exercise, separate from residential roads and unsuitable wetland reserves.
