Community safety petition – Hugh Muntz Park, Beenleigh

Principal petitioner: Derby Sante
Closing date: 6 July 2026

Petitions express the views of the Principal petitioner and may not represent the views of Council.

We are calling on Logan City Council and Queensland Police to take urgent action to address ongoing safety concerns at Hugh Muntz Park. This is not about judgement it’s about safety.

Over recent months, the park has been the site of serious incidents, including:

  • A fatal shooting in December 2025
  • An alleged stabbing in April 2026

Ongoing reports from residents of anti-social behaviour, substance abuse, theft, and vandalism. Many local residents and businesses no longer feel safe in their own community. That is not acceptable.

We are asking for immediate action:

  • Increased police presence and patrols
  • Enforcement of laws regarding illegal camping and public safety
  • Coordination with support services to assist vulnerable individuals appropriately
  • Restoration of the park as a safe, family-friendly public space

This petition is about restoring safety, accountability, and community confidence.
