Clarke Road/Lindenthal Road/Park Ridge Road intersection signalisation

We are designing an upgrade to the intersection of Park Ridge Road / Clarke Road and Lindenthal Road, Park Ridge.

This project is delivered with support from the Australian Government Black Spot Program. This initiative directly targets roads with a proven crash history or high-risk locations.

Why is the project needed?

The steady rise in traffic volumes from population growth and development in Park Ridge and surrounds has led to an increase in the number of traffic incidents at this intersection.

Ten crashes were reported between a 5 year period (2014 to 2019), with more going unreported.

60 percent of the crashes at this intersection resulted in hospitalisation for vehicle occupants.

Driver error and fatigue appear to be the main factors in most of the reported accidents at this intersection.

Many of the accidents involved right turn movements onto Park Ridge Road.

This intersection upgrade will help improve safety and reduce the risk of potential future crashes.

Project Details and Benefits

To make the location safer, we will install:

  • traffic signals to formalise when vehicles can go, stop and turn
  • signalised pedestrian crossings with push buttons
  • green painted bicycle lanes approaching the intersection on Park Ridge Road to create awareness of vulnerable road users.
