Latest update - July 2026

Detailed design is nearing completion. Following community consultation, the shared path alignment was changed to better accommodate path users and motorists. The design is scheduled for final approval by TMR later this year. Updates will be published here as information becomes available.

Project overview

We are designing a new, wider shared path on Springwood Road, from the Springwood Reservoir to Daisy Hill Road.

We are shaping a greener, healthier city with a planned new link in our shared pathway network. Off-road paths make it easier, safer and more desirable to walk, ride bikes, and use active transport.

This project is being delivered under Council's Cycleway Infrastructure Program and is proudly supported by the Queensland Government's Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program.

Project features

The design includes:

  • a new, wider shared path for pedestrians and bike riders to replace the existing aging footpath
  • new raised priority crossings
  • upgrading kerb ramps to allow easier access for bicycles, prams and other mobility devices
  • new low-speed entry ramps
  • pavement markings and wayfinding signage
  • service relocations.

Project benefits

This shared path design will:

  • allow safer active travel opportunities
  • encourage mode of transport choice
  • provide more space for pedestrians, bike riders and other path users
  • create an inclusive, accessible facility
  • enhance local connectivity.

Project timings

Survey works are being carried out to mid-2024 as part of the early design phase, with detailed design expected in 2025. Additional funding is needed before the project can be scheduled for construction.
We will update the community as the project progresses.

Project impacts

Survey work is low impact. Surveyors will be walking on some properties to take measurements. We will be in touch with relevant property owners.
