Overview

We have begun designing a new, wider shared path on Middle Road to improve connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians between the Middle Road off-ramp and Coronation Road.

The project is located within the Major Cycle Network identified in the Logan Planning Scheme and the South East Queensland Principal Cycleway Network Plan developed by the Department of Transport and Main Roads.

Features

The design includes:

  • a new, wider shared path for pedestrians and bike riders to replace the existing footpath
  • an extension of the existing shared path along Mt Lindesay Highway Service Road to Middle Road
  • upgraded kerb ramps for easier access for pedestrians, prams and mobility devices
  • a new retaining wall and pedestrian safety fence along adjoining properties
  • improved bus stop access and shelter relocation
  • new kerb, channel and underground stormwater drainage
  • service relocations, including power poles and traffic signal infrastructure
  • landscaping and reinstatement of affected verges.

Benefits

This shared path design will:

  • provide safer active travel opportunities
  • encourage increased active travel within the local community
  • provide more space for pedestrians, bike riders and other path users
  • create an inclusive, accessible facility
  • enhance local connectivity.

Timings

The project is in the early design phase, with detailed design expected to be completed in 2027. Funding is needed before the project can be scheduled for construction.

We will update the community as the project progresses.
