Place Making Incentive Program

The Place Making Incentive Program (PIP) supports projects that make Logan’s city centres more vibrant, welcoming and active. It provides funding to local businesses, landowners, community groups and artists to improve streets, shopfronts and public spaces.

The program builds on successful Council placemaking initiatives and lessons learned from the 2023 Footpath Improvement Program (FIP). Remaining FIP funding has been redirected to support this expanded, ongoing program.

The PIP is a key action of Council’s Place Plan - A Place Making Approach for Logan’s Economic Transformation.

To understand the detail about the program, including criteria and application process, view the Place Making Incentives Program guidelines(PDF, 2MB).

Why the PIP?

The program encourages local businesses, landowners and community groups to take the lead in activating Logan’s centres. The PIP aims to:

  • Improve street appeal and centre amenity
  • Increase foot traffic and visitation
  • Support outdoor dining and safer streets
  • Encourage day and night-time activity
  • Strengthen local identity and sense of place.

What kinds of projects can be funded?

The PIP supports small to medium-scale projects on sites that are visible and accessible to the public, including:

  • Creative lighting and projections
  • Outdoor dining furniture and shade
  • Shopfront signage and façade improvements
  • Murals and public art (subject to approval)
  • Pop-up activations and exhibitions
  • Seating, planters and greening
  • Decorative installations and street art
  • Bike, scooter or dog parking

Projects can be temporary or permanent.
