Hi everyone. Today I'm here to share important tips on waste management and recycling in Logan City. Let's make sure we're doing our part correctly to keep our city clean and green. In our homes, we have access to three bins. The recycling bin has a yellow lid. The general waste bin has a red lid and the garden waste bin has a lime green lid.

Each plays an important role in responsible waste disposal and resource recovery for our city and different items are accepted in each.

The yellow lid recycling bin is for recyclers only. Please place materials like cardboard, paper, firm plastic, aluminium and steel cans, glass bottles, and jars in this bin. Remember, don't bag your recyclables. Just place them loose in the bin. You can leave lids on containers. No need to remove them. However, please ensure you never put batteries, soft plastics, coffee cups, or broken glass in this bin.

Next, the lime green lid garden waste bin is solely for garden waste like flowers, leaves, grass clippings, and weeds. This material is turned into valuable compost which can be used on community parks and gardens. Don't place heavy logs in this bin. Bin contents can't be too heavy and lids need to be closed. Please do not use this bin for regular waste or recyclables or hazardous items because it can contaminate compost.

Lastly, the red lid general waste bin is for general waste only such as ceramics, nappies, plastic bags, and typical household waste. Please do not place hazardous items such as batteries, building materials, electronics, gas bottles, or harmful substances in any bin. These items can cause fires and harm the community.

You can take these items to designated waste facilities instead. If you need an additional bin or a different size bin, you can easily contact council at lccqld.com/wasteandrecycling or 3412 3412.

On collection days, place the correct bin on the curb the night before away from parked cars, trees, and power lines for easy collection. Bins are collected on a cycle, general waste weekly, recycling fortnightly, and green waste on the opposite Fortnite to recycling. To find out your collection date, you can download the City of Logan app or contact council.

For larger household items that don't fit in your bin, Logan provides an annual curbside collection service. You'll receive a flyer letting you know when your suburbs collection is happening. Please follow the instructions carefully and don't place items out more than a week in advance. If you have reusable items, drop them off at any of council's waste facilities where they will be sold at Logan's Recycling Market. 41 Recycle Way Heritage Park where you might even find a unique treasure for yourself.
