Special Council meetings

Special Council meetings are called when urgent business arises that cannot be delayed until the next Ordinary Council meeting. 

Special Council Meetings are also held each year in June to adopt the Budget and Operational Plan for each financial year. 

The Chief Executive Officer determines, in consultation with the Mayor, it is in the interests of the local government that a Special Local Government Meeting be held.

At a Special Local Government Meeting, the only business which may be conducted is the business stated in the notice of the meeting (as issued in accordance with section 254C (4) of the Local Government Regulation 2012.
