Mowers music to the ears as warmer weather arrives

Logan City Council mowers are on the move ahead of summer to help keep local parks and footpaths neat and safe.

Council maintains more than 19,000 hectares of grass across the city, including over 780 parks.

Mowing frequency increases during the warmer months when grass growth accelerates.

Wet weather can delay mowing in some areas, as the use of heavy equipment on saturated ground can damage turf and soil.

Crews will return to mow water-logged areas as soon as conditions allow.

The city’s busiest parks and sports fields receive more frequent mowing services during summer to ensure community activities can continue.

Residents are generally responsible for mowing the verge (nature strip) outside their property.

Council may mow some nature strips when grass height is restricting visibility, pedestrian access or neighbourhood amenity.

Residents concerned about overgrown grass in a park or public space can lodge a mowing request online at: Connect with us or call 07 3412 3412.

Tree trimming requests triaged for community safety

Logan City Council is prioritising urgent tree trimming requests ahead of the summer storm season to ensure community safety.

Council’s parks team receives and responds to hundreds of tree trimming requests each month.

Lower priority works may be delayed in coming weeks while crews work to remove large branches, or unsteady trees that pose safety risks.

The community's patience and understanding are appreciated.

Residents lodging a request should supply photos to help crews assess the urgency and details of the job.

Council may also require more information on the tree’s size, location and whether it is obstructing a road, footpath or facility.

It is also important to confirm whether the tree is on Council land, or on private property.

If a tree is entangled in power lines, residents must contact Energex directly. Council cannot remove trees from powerlines.

If a Council tree has caused damage to private property, residents should notify their insurance company as well as report the matter to Council on 07 3412 3412.

Logan Early Warning App discontinued

The Logan Early Warning app will soon be retired, as residents can now receive timely alerts via email and SMS, making it easier than ever to stay informed.

Logan City Council is committed to finding better ways to keep the community safe and informed during severe weather events.

The Early Warning Network has introduced new alert features that go beyond what the app can support.

As a result, the app has stopped sending notifications and will soon be removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Current app users will automatically transition to SMS alerts through Early Warning Network. Email and SMS alerts will continue as usual.

Residents will receive critical alerts about severe weather, including flooding, bushfires, and controlled burns, as well as new hail alerts will notify you when hailstones of 2 centimetres or larger are detected.
