Council hours over the Christmas-New Year period

Residents can access Logan City Council’s essential services during the holidays, but operating hours will change for some venues.

Council facilities will not be open on the Christmas Day (December 25), Boxing Day (December 26) or New Year’s Day (January 1) public holidays.

Online services are available 24/7 to report Council-related matters, apply for approvals or pay rates or bills.

A full list of operating hours is available at Essential services

Artists encouraged to submit proposals on Kingston Butter Factory history

The call is going out to local creatives to submit proposals for projects in response to the history of the Kingston Butter Factory.

One artist’s proposal will be selected to be developed and exhibited in the upstairs exhibition space.

The Living Museum of Logan welcomes creatives from all disciplines to apply, with applications encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, artists with disability, LGBTQIA+ artists, and others who reflect the rich social fabric of Logan.

Please email LivingMuseum@logan.qld.gov.au or call 07 2803 4724 if you have any questions.

Applications close Saturday, January 31.

Multilingual resources help protect pets

More residents can now access important information about keeping their pets safe.

A new resource explaining the benefits of registration and microchipping is now available in some of the city’s most common languages - Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Punjabi and Samoan.

Council’s I’d Be Lost flyer is available at Council’s customer service centres and libraries.

It explains what to do if a pet goes missing and reminds residents that all cats and dogs in Logan must be registered.

Currently, 40 percent of animals impounded at the Animal Management Centre are unidentifiable.

Keeping microchip details up to date greatly increases the chance of a pet being returned to its owner.

The translation of the flyer is part of Council’s Animal Management Plan, which aims to help more residents take simple steps to protect their pets.
