Sustainable fleet

Our Sustainable Fleet Strategy 2021 to 2026(PDF, 7MB) is our road map to transition to a more environmentally friendly vehicle and plant fleet while contributing to Australia's 2050 net zero emissions target.

The strategy is underpinned by four targets including:

  • Manage, minimise, and control air pollutants and waste from vehicles, plant and infrastructure used in Council operations.
  • Manage driver and vehicle behaviour that directly impact emissions.
  • Develop energy reduction strategies and continuously review the viability of alternative energy sources.
  • Drive cultural change, training and education.

As part of reaching our sustainable fleet targets by 2026, we aim to achieve a 20 percent reduction in pollution and waste and have 50 percent of our passenger fleet transitioned to either electric or hybrid vehicles.
