Keep general waste disposal - Beenleigh, Eagleby and Mount Warren Park

Principal petitioner: Adam Bound
Closing date: 8 May 2026

Petitions express the views of the Principal petitioner and may not represent the views of Council.

Residents of Beenleigh and surrounding suburbs including Eagleby and Mount Warren Park are concerned about the decision to cease accepting general waste at the Beenleigh Waste and Recycling Facility. For many households in these communities, the Beenleigh facility has been the most accessible location for the disposal of general household waste and bulky items.

The removal of this service will require residents to travel significantly further, in many cases 25–30 minutes or more, to alternative facilities.
Residents are concerned that this change may lead to several unintended impacts, including increased travel distances for waste disposal, additional pressure on other facilities, and a higher risk of illegal dumping occurring in local areas. Given the size of the population serviced by the Beenleigh facility, residents believe that the impact on surrounding communities such as Beenleigh, Eagleby and Mount Warren Park requires further review and clear communication from Logan City Council.

Action required in response to this issue:

We respectfully request that Logan City Council review the decision to cease accepting general waste at the Beenleigh Waste and Recycling Facility.

Specifically, residents ask Council to:

  • Reconsider maintaining general waste disposal services at the Beenleigh facility, or
  • Provide a clear plan outlining how general waste disposal access will be managed for residents of Beenleigh, Eagleby and Mount Warren Park, and
  • Outline what measures will be taken to prevent increased illegal dumping in the surrounding areas.

Residents also request that Council provide clear communication about the timeline of the decision, any community consultation undertaken, and the rationale for the change.
