Our neighbourhood is currently experiencing a significant increase in speeding vehicles, creating a hazardous environment for residents, pedestrians and cyclists. Specifically we wish to highlight:
  • Recent Incidents: There have been at least 3 accidents and countless “near-miss” events in the last 4 weeks.
  • Vulnerable Residents/High Risk Pedestrians: This street is a primary route for children and families visiting local parks as well as bus stops, all of whom are being put at risk daily.
  • Excessive Speeds: Vehicles frequently exceed the posted limit of 50kph
  • Peak Danger Times: The speeding is most prevalent at all hours of the day, but more specifically early morning and after 6pm making it unsafe for residents to pull out of their own driveways.

Action required in response to this issue:

We request that the Council:
  • conducts an immediate traffic speed assessment and intervention strategy consistent with the SAFERROADS4LOGAN Strategy’s goal to reduce serious road trauma through infrastructure that supports safer speeds;
  • investigate Physical Traffic Calming Devices as outlines in Planning Scheme Policy 5, to provide a self-explaining road environment that discourages through-traffic using excessive speeds; and
  • provide a timeline for the implementation of safety measures.

We request the rights to petition and have this placed on the public record.
