Bahrs Scrub / Beenleigh (East West Connectivity) Transport Study

We are assessing road alignment options to improve transport connectivity in the Bahrs Scrub / Beenleigh area.

The study involves the partial or full realignment of the existing Wuraga Road alignment.

The potential area for realignment is indicated in yellow on the investigation zone map. Please download the
investigation zone map (PDF 366 KB)

Why is a new road alignment needed?

With traffic volumes set to rise, the project is tasked with improving traffic flow through the project area as vehicle numbers increase.

It will also provide better east-west connectivity as the city’s road network develops into the future.

Project features

At this early stage, the project is looking at options to provide:

  • a single 3.5m travel lane in each direction
  • 3m breakdown lanes on both sides of the road
  • improved intersections
  • new cycling and pedestrian facilities.

Have your say

The Have Your Say survey was open through July 2021 and we would like to thank all those who contributed.

You can download a copy of the consultation summary report (PDF 568 KB).

Project timings

The next stage of the project is to assess potential road alignments to determine a short-list of options to be taken to preliminary design.

The community feedback is currently being incorporated into this options analysis.

Preliminary design will be undertaken in early 2022 on the short-listed options with a view to determining the best option by mid-2022.
