Apply for a licence

First, you make sure the site has planning approval, building approval and plumbing approval, see before you start for more information.

To apply:

download and complete the Application for local law licence / amendment(PDF, 884KB) and return it to us with payment. You can submit your application in person at our customer service centres, by post or email. Please see connect with us for our contact information
attach the required scale plan and layout plan to the application.

Delays in the assessment and approval process will occur if you don’t include all of the information requested on the application form.

Process once application is submitted

Submit a higher risk personal appearance service licence application to us using Application for local law licence / amendment(PDF, 884KB).
We will process your application within the legislative timeframe. We will contact you if we need more information.
When we approve your plans, you can start construction or fit-out. Your building certifier and licensed plumber will advise if any building or plumbing approvals are required.
Upon completion of the fit-out, contact us to arrange an inspection.
When we approve your licence, you can then open your business making sure you comply with your licence conditions.

If you are making changes like renovating an existing licensed higher risk personal appearance service you will need to download and complete the Application for local law licence / amendment(PDF, 884KB) to amend your licence.

If you are buying a higher risk personal appearance service with an existing licence, you will need to apply for a transfer of that licence.
