Chambers Flat Road Upgrade (Park Ridge Road to Derby Road)
Project overview
The final design to widen this section of Chambers Flat Road to improve safety and install major drainage has been completed. The project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and Logan City Council.
The project area extends from Park Ridge Road in Park Ridge, to just south of Derby Road in Chambers Flat.

Latest update - June 2026
Early works for electrical and gas services have been ongoing since March 2026. The underground electrical infrastructure is complete with some connection and cabling activities due to commence mid-late June 2026. These will be delivered Energex concurrently with their overhead line and pole upgrades.
While gas service relocation works have progressed, delays have occurred because of the extended wet weather in May and early June, which has impacted ground conditions. Council and the gas authority are exploring measures to mitigate this to return to site to complete the works.
Telecommunications service relocation works are expected to be delivered by three carriers between end of June through to late September 2026 rather than concurrently with the main road and drainage upgrade works, as previously reported.
While most works will occur between 7:00am and 5:00pm Monday to Saturday, some night activity may be required at times, particularly if road crossings or lane closures are required.
Council will make every effort to minimise disruption to the community during these works. However, some localised construction impacts can be expected including:
- Increased levels of noise, dust and vibration from earthworks including trenching and vegetation removal. The site contractors will apply measures to reduce these as much as practical.
- Temporary driveway access restrictions at times. Our contractors will contact affected residents and businesses well ahead of the restriction and work with them to determine critical access times.
- Changed traffic conditions including traffic controls and reduced speed limits.
- Truck movements to and from work sites to allow machinery / materials to be delivered and removed.
Once appointed, the Principal Contractor will be responsible for implementing their scheduled program for all activities within the boundaries of the upgrade (see final designs(PDF, 45MB)). This will include the timing for the upgrade of School Road Intersection to a two-lane roundabout to serve temporarily until a future upgrade of School Road occurs.
All contenders for the contract have indicated they will present a programme that prioritises the School Road roundabout as early as possible in their construction programme, whilst acknowledging that there are aspects of the work that will need to be established first e.g. dual-lane approaches to the two-lane roundabout and inground drainage infrastructure.
More information and feedback
We will keep the community updated through this web page as the project progresses.
However, until the Principal Contractor takes possession of site, if you have any general queries about the upgrade, please contact Council’s Transport Delivery Engagement Team on 07 3412 3412, or email RoadComms@logan.qld.gov.au.
You may also register your email details via RoadComms@logan.qld.gov.au to subscribe if you would like to receive emailed copies of regular Notices of Works and progress updates. Emailing ensures you receive the information and reduces Council’s mailing costs.
Why is the upgrade needed?
The upgrade will help to ensure Chambers Flat Road is able to accommodate future traffic demands.
Traffic is expected to increase significantly over the next 20 years because of residential and business growth linked to Chambers Flat, Logan Reserve and Park Ridge.
Chambers Flat Road currently carries approximately 19,000 vehicles per day. This figure is expected to rise to approximately 28,000 vehicles per day, a 47 percent increase.
If this section of the network is not upgraded, congestion and delays can be expected to grow into the future as the volume of traffic increases along local roads.
Project timings
Once all utility services are relocated, main construction works may take up to two years to complete, depending on weather and construction conditions. The main construction work cannot begin until the early works are completed
Community information
A 'Meet the Team' event will be held for the community before construction begins, offering local residents and businesses an opportunity to ask the Project Officers about how the project affects them.
Regular updates will be provided via this webpage, and construction notifications from the Principal Contractor’s community relations advisor who will undertake engagement and communication with residents, businesses and other stakeholders for all construction related matters.
Chambers Flat Road and School Road Intersection Upgrade
The planned upgrade of the Chambers Flat Road and School Road intersection is part of the main project. It comprises installation of a temporary roundabout to improve safety and traffic flow. This roundabout will stay until School Road is upgraded and realigned in future infrastructure programs, depending on funding and planning requirements. The safety of our community is our top priority, and we recognise the urgency of addressing the hazards at this busy intersection.
Project features
To maintain safety as traffic increases, we’re making changes to Chambers Flat Road from Park Ridge to Chambers Flat. This means different access from some side streets, as well as:
- widening Chambers Flat Road to 2-lanes in each direction
- traffic light upgrade at Park Ridge Road
- new traffic lights at Koplick Road
- temporary roundabout at School Road (this will be removed in future years as part of the planned School Road realignment)
- removal of Council's temporary accesses at Rural Street and Isla Street
- East Beaumont Road to become left in and left out only
- no right entry to Derby Road from the south, (across Chambers Flat Road). Motorists will proceed to the legal U-turn facility at the new Koplick Road traffic lights
- Upgraded intersection at Derby Road to cater for the Loganlea Village school site now under construction on Derby Road between Chambers Flat Road and Loganlea Road.
Project benefits
The upgraded road will help to:
- improve safety as traffic increases
- unlock local bottlenecks for more reliable travel times
- build a well-managed road network to improve access and economic opportunity.
