Guinea pigs

The table below shows how many guinea pigs you can have on your property. You can use the PDHub to find the size of your property.

If you would like to keep more than the number of Guinea pigs allowed for your property size, you will need to apply for an animal keeping approval, see Animal keeping approval application (other than cats and dogs)(PDF, 433KB).

If you would like to keep more than what an animal keeping approval allows, you will need a development approval. For more information please contact council@logan.qld.gov.au.

Enclosure requirements

Preventing your animals from being able to escape your property is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. Enclosures should be in a clean and tidy condition at all times

Enclosures must not be:

• within 2 metres of the property boundary
• within 10 metres of a neighbouring dwelling.

General requirements

As a responsible pet owner, you must make sure keeping the guinea pigs does not cause:

• a build-up of animal faeces
• breeding or harbouring of flies or vermin
• damage to property
• harm to human health or safety
• nuisance
• disruption to a neighbour's enjoyment.
