Rates discount and interest requests

Properties in the Residential (Owner Occupied) general rating category may be eligible for a $120 annual discount (or $30 each quarter) when all rates and charges are paid in full by the quarterly due date.

Late payments due to reasons beyond your control

We understand that unexpected situations arise. If you were unable to pay your rates on time for reasons outside your control, we may still consider:

  • granting the prompt payment discount, and
  • waiving interest charged for late payment.

Please let us know what happened so we can review your situation fairly.

Examples of situations we may consider

The following are examples of reasons Council may consider:

  • Council addressed your rate notice incorrectly and it was sent to the wrong address.
  • You did not receive the rate notice, even though your details were correct.
  • You made a payment that has not appeared on your rates account.
  • A genuine mistake occurred when making the payment (e.g. incorrect amount, wrong reference number).
  • Unexpected circumstances beyond your control prevented you from paying by the due date (e.g. a natural disaster, an accident, a death in the family).
