Freeman Bridge Replacement
Latest update
Our survey team will be in the area to perform environmental and cultural heritage, potholing, and geotechnical investigation surveys in October 2025, site and weather conditions permitting. This will help to inform the design of the new bridge.
Project overview
We are designing a new two-way concrete bridge to replace the wooden bridge, across Cyrus Creek on Veresdale Scrub School Road in Veresdale.
The existing bridge is nearing the end of its service life, and the costs of repairs and maintenance are becoming increasingly expensive. Freeman Bridge will be improved from the current one-lane timber structure to a two-way concrete bridge with a 100-year design life.
The replacement will help prevent rural isolation and secure a critical link between the City of Logan and Scenic Rim Regional Council as the region grows.
Project features
The project works will include:
- service relocations
- demolition of the existing timber bridge
- construction of a new, two-way concrete bridge with a 100-year design life
- providing road approaches with 2 lanes, measuring 3.5 metre-wide each
- sealed shoulders
- new kerb and channel, guard rail and line marking
- realignment of the bridge approaches to improve sight distance.
Project benefits
The new bridge will deliver a range of benefits, including:
- future-proofed infrastructure and rural connection
- increased road safety
- better traffic flow
- improved access in wet weather events.
Project timing
We will communicate with residents, businesses, and key stakeholders before works commence with further details, including timing and what you can expect
